After vomitting and running fever all night, we decided to visit our favorite urgent care center. Honestly, I am so thankful for this place (even if my co-pay is $75). We do try to reserve our visits for what we consider to be emergencies. When your poor baby runs a fever that is 103 and 102.8, I would think that could be classified as a minor emergency. So, we get right in and see the doctor. He checks her lungs, all clear. Her ears look great too. The minute she opens her mouth he says, "Oh, she has herpangina", and I wondered what kind of obscene names he was calling my child. Turns out, it's herpangina until you have the rash on the feet or hands, then it becomes hand, foot and mouth disease. This malady(my new favorite word) is a lovely viral infection, for which there is no treatment. Good times, here....
Back to the point of my story, I LOVE ACUTE KIDS URGENT CARE! If you are ever in doubt and your pediatrician's office is closed, go here! They rock, if my copay was the same at the doctor's office, I 'd much rather go here! In fact, as I was checking out, one of my co-workers was checking in with her child.
I'm truly hoping we're reaching the tail end of the sicknesses at this house...although, I realize it could get a whole lot worse!
