SUCCESS!

Today on the way home from work, I got a call from the pulmonologist's office. They had the blood work results from Sweet Pea's latest tests.....GOOD NEWS! The pneumonia vaccine worked the way it was supposed to! The initial test showed that she had no immunity in all 14 sub-tests. Now, she has immunity to 11 of 14 common childhood illnesses....WOOHOO! (I'm not sure I worded all that correctly, but you get the point, right??)

MORE good news???? Her lungs are clear! Pneumonia that had been with us since December, GONE! I truly believe in the power of prayer!

Thanks to all my friends for your kind words and positive thoughts, they worked!

Our next appointment is Monday, I'm hoping they will give us the ok to back off of the medicines and return to our 'semi-normal' life!

OOOH, and guess what else, Nickelback in 3 weeks with one of my favorite people AND New Orleans with Daddy Dearest in October while Nana keeps the kiddos!
Life is good!

Why I do what I do

Today at our annual convocation, in front of thousands of people, a former student told EVERYONE why I was his 'miracle worker'! It was the most amazing feeling in the world!
Let me back up....I adore this child! He has a great sense of humor, he is kind and caring... a teacher's dream! His mother also teaches at my school. Yesterday, she told me that he was going to have a speaking part at convocation. I told her that was great and I was really proud of him. This morning, I saw him as we were getting ready to head to convocation and told him I was so excited for him! Usually, at convocation, the kids always have some small part, saying the pledge, reading poems or things like that. So, imagine my surprise, when my former student walks out and starts telling everyone how I inspired him and helped to change his life....WOW. I was literally sobbing by the time he was finished (and so was everyone around me!).
Suddenly, it all fell into place. Talk about perspective! I am a teacher because I do make a difference. No, I don't need to be told this all the time, but an occasional reminder is kinda nice!
It was truly a great day, one I'll never forget!

It's All Good!

Yeah, my computer is back from rehab, complete with a new keyboard and battery! Life should be good until the extended warranty expires next May!
My goal for the week is to update this thing, aka-my blog, with a new look and lots of pictures from our latest adventures (there have been LOTS of those!).
In other news, my summer time is slipping away...ugh, I hate this feeling of depression that comes over me as I start to literally countdown the hours and minutes until I return to work. Don't get me wrong, I really love my job and I'm blessed to be able to have a career that allows me to spend so much time with my family, BUT, I hate for this time to end! I'll get over it, I always do! It usually goes away at Longhorn Launch, the first time I see the faces of those kiddos that will be spending the next nine months with me! I love how anxious, eager, and excited they are! So, just bear with me while I whine and complain during these next few weeks.
It's all good!
